The following covers development of Windriggercat MK 2 - a trailerable catamaran created for exploring inland waters and seashores with accommodation for sleeping 2 adults onboard in a camping environment - a camper trailersailer.
Photo 1 shows components of the cat which required considerable effort in a design / trial / modificationand retrial process. These are bridgedeck, beam-change mechanism, hull structure, centreboard and steering system, cabin-top and outboard setup. The sailrig is a transplant from Windrigger MK I. Details of these components shall be provided in a following installment.
The launching system is the achhievement and it is illustrated in photos 2 to 8.
Photo 2 shows Windriggercat MK II rigged for trailering. Note the hulls are fixed in the trailering position.
Photo 3 - the hulls are in a launching position - hanging freely from the bridgedeck and restrained from moving inwards.
Photo 4 - note that the sterns of the cat are in contact wth the water causing the hulls to move outwards as it cat moves down the trailer-rails
Photo 5 - the cat leaves the trailer and adopts its sailing-beam position.
Photo 6 - the cat positioned for reloading onto the trailer using the trailer-tilt mechanism.
