SCOTT OF REAFIRTH in the Parish of Yell

1. DAVID SCOTT “Sanderson” came to Shetland in the year 1574. Through his marriage in the year 1582 with Janet, daughter and heiress of Alexander Blair of Reafirth he acquired these lands. After the death of his wife he married Katherine, daughter of Matthew Edmondston. By his first marriage he had issue:
   1. Alexander, his heir
   2. James
   3. Elizabeth
   4. Barbara, married George Brown, and had issue Hosea, married Doraty daughter of Ninian Spence of Houlland, and had issue:
      1. James, died young
      2. Marable, married Arthur Anderson of Sandvoe
      3. and a son married Elspeth, daughter of Hosea Scott of Reafirth
   5. Anne
2. ALEXANDER SCOTT of Reafirth married Ursilla, daughter of Ninian Henderson of Buness, and died in 1628, leaving issue:
   1. David, his heir
   2. Magnus
   3. Robert
   4. Janet
3. DAVID SCOTT of Reafirth married Sarah, daughter of Hosea Anderson of Dalsetter, and died in 1641, leaving issue:
   1. Hosea, his heir
   2. Charles
   3. Walter
   4. Barbara, married Arthur Anderson of Sandvoe
   5. Elizabeth, married Andrew Johnson of Aywick
4. HOSEA SCOTT of Reafirth died 8th July 1665, having married (first) Katherine, daughter of James Henderson of Gardie, and had issue:
   1. Walter, who predeceased him
   He married (second) 27th June 1657, Katherine, daughter of Gilbert Spence, and had issue:
   2. Charles, his heir
   3. David
   4. Barbara, married Ninian Spence of Vatster
5. CHARLES SCOTT of Reafirth died 16th January 1714, having married Barbara, daughter of Gilbert Gifford of Weathersta, and had issue:
   1. Magnus, his heir
   2. David (see No.VII)
6. MAGNUS SCOTT of Reafirth succeeded his father and died unmarried in 1722, succeeded by his brother,
7. DAVID SCOTT of Reafirth, designed in a sasine in 1816, as grandson of Hosea Scott of Reafirth, married and had issue:
   1. Magnus, eldest son
   2. Charles (see No.VIII)
   3. Margaret, baptised 4th November 1729
   4. Katherine, baptised 11th August 1732
   5. Janet, baptised 13th August 1733
8. CHARLES SCOTT, merchant, Mid Yell, brother german to Magnus Scott, eldest son to the deceased David Scott, of Reafirth, baptised 23rd June 1727, is proprietor of lands in Mid Yell in 1768
9. CHARLES SCOTT, heir of David Scott of Reafirth, is seised in the 16 merk lands of Reafirth, in 1816
