Vari Scari

Alan Blundell has built a tri-scaph "Vari Scari" with three hulls similar to sailboards and a large sailboard sail.

Changing tack involves turning downwind, letting the sail gybe across, climbing over to the other side and sheeting in on the new tack, which brings the front hull across to its new leeward position in line with the rear hull just vacated. Steering is via a tiller operating the pivoted front hull.
