DICK OF WORMADALE in the Parish of Tingwall

  1. On 13th May 1676, WALTER DICK of Wormadale, disponed to his son William Dick, Notary Public in Scalloway, and Janet Mitchell his spouse, certain houses in Scalloway, to which he had acquired right from James Sinclair of Scalloway, and Arthur Sinclair of Houss, his son. Sasine was given on this disposition on 18th April 1677, and among the names of those present at the ceremony, appears that of Lewis Dick, son to the said Walter. Walter Dick married Elizabeth, daughter of Magnus Henderson of Gardie, and had issue: in addition to the said William and Lewis, a daughter Margaret, who is called youngest daughter in a disposition by her brother William to her of certain houses in Lerwick, on 24th August 1689. She married a Mr. Doull, and had a daughter Margaret.
  2. WILLIAM DICK, the eldest son, was a Notary Public, and Commissary Clerk of Zetland. He married (1) Janet, daughter of John Mitchell of Westshore, and (2) Grizel, daughter of Robert Robertson of Gossaburgh, and had issue:
    1. Andrew [married Katherine, daughter of Arthur Nicolson of Bullister and Lochend]
    2. Janet, who married Arthur Nicolson of Lochend.
  3. On 11th July 1728, ANDREW DICK of Wormadale was served heir to his grandfather William. He married Isabel Young, who died his relict at Lerwick, 17th June 1761.
