BRUCE OF URIE in the island of Fetlar

1. ANDREW BRUCE, first of Urie, in the Island of Fetlar, a natural son of Andrew Bruce, second of Muness, by Catherine, daughter of James Fordyce, Crail, Fifeshire, died 1650, He married Mary, daughter and heiress of John Sinclair of Urie, and thus obtained possession of these lands. He had issue:
2. WILLIAM BRUCE of Urie [2nd of Urie], who succeeded his father, had, disposition with Andrew, his second son, of 16 merks land in Kirkhouse, in Fetlar, from Henry Sinclair of Swining, 1698, and died 1699, married (first) Ursilla, daughter of James Edie, and had issue
   1. James, who died young,
   He married (second), 1667, Katherine, third daughter of Magnus Henderson of Dalsetter, and had issue
   2. Andrew, his heir.

   5. Margaret, married John Jamieson of Still.
   6. Katherine, married James Ross.

ANDREW BRUCE of Urie [3rd of Urie], born 1678, has disposition of 12 merks of land in Yell, from Gilbert Edmondston of Gravaland, in 1703, died 2nd February 1716, having married 1700, Ann, daughter of Rev. John Catanach, minister of Unst, who married after his death, Laurence Bruce of Sumburgh. They had issue:

   2. Andrew of Mursetter, born 1702, died 4th November 1750, having married, 1721, Elizabeth, daughter of John Scott, fiar of Voesgarth, and had issue:
      1. John James, who married Lilias, daughter of James Fraser, Scalloway, and widow of Robert Mouat, merchant, Yell.
      2. William, died s.p.
      3. Charles
      4. Catherine, married William Bolt.
      5. Ann
      6. Ursilla.

4. WILLIAM BRUCE of Urie [4th of Urie], born 1701, died 26th May 1743, married (first), 1720, Katherine, daughter of John Gifford of Busta, and (second) Margaret, daughter of Sir John Mitchell of Westshore, Bart., and widow of Gilbert Basil Scott, of Voesgarth. By his first marriage he had issue:
