1863 - 75
Eric 9th Lord Reay, served for some time in the army as a Lieutenant, but retired and went into business. He died, unmarried, in 1875, when the title passed to the Dutch branch of the family, in the person of Æneas Mackay, a Baron of the Netherlands, Vice-President of the Council of State, and holder of the Grand Cross of the Order of the Netherlands. Both Lord Reay and Baron Æneas were in the 5th generation of descent from John, 2nd Lord Reay. See our Genealogical Account of the Dutch Mackays.
