BRUCE OF BRAEWICK in the parish of Northmavine

  1. ANDREW BRUCE, first of Braewick, was the third son of Robert Bruce of Sumburgh, and his wife Marjory, daughter of Andrew Bruce of Muness. He died 1674, having married Helen, daughter of William Stewart of Mains, and had issue
    1. Andrew, his heir.
    2. Laurence.
    3. Robert.
    4. John.
    5. Dorothea, married Simon Forbes of Tow.
    6. James.
  2. ANDREW BRUCE of Braewick [2nd of Braewick], bailie of Lerwick, who appears in the Acts of Parliament as a Commissioner of Supply for Zetland in 1696 and 1704, was served heir of conquest to his grandfather, 22nd June 1672, and had disposition of 12 merks land in Braewick, from Gilbert Gifford, of Uphouse, 31st August 1686, drowned on his way to Leith, 1737. He married Margaret, daughter of James Sinclair of Hoversta, and had issue:
    1. Laurence, his heir.
  3. LAURENCE BRUCE of Braewick [3rd of Braewick], married (contract dated 4th April 1722), Anne Margareta, daughter of Arthur Nicolson of Lochend, and had issue:
    1. Arthur, appears as proprietor of the 22 merks land of Braewick in 1749, died 6th April 1760.

    3. Henry, baptised November 1733.
    4. Janet, baptised 29th April 1736.
    5. James, baptised 26th May 1737.
    6. Laurence, baptised 13th June 1739.
    7. Robert, who disponed Braewick to his brother-in-law, Samuel Scollay, on 30th March 1768.
  4. MARGARET BRUCE, married 5th January 1759, Samuel Scollay, merchant in Lerwick, who died 18th October 1770, and had issue
    1. Robert
    2. Anne Margaret, baptised 26th December 1762, married 26th September 1784, Patrick Innes, surgeon, Lerwick.
  5. ROBERT SCOLLAY of Garth, born 3rd May 1763, died 7th May 1817, married (first) 10th January 1786, Ann Innes and had issue:
    1. Elizabeth, born 12 May 1788, died in infancy
    2. Barbara
    3. John, born 7th July 1790
    4. James, born 9th August 1791
    5. Grizel, born 27th August 1792, died in infancy
    6. Ann, born 17th May 1794, deaf and dumb
    He married (second) 19th September 1801 Ann, daughter of James Bolt of Cruister
  6. BARBARA SCOLLAY, born 20th May 1789, died 17th October 1856, married William Jameson, fishery officer, who died May 1848 and had issue:
    1. Anne Innes (Mrs Boumeister)
    2. Wilhelmina, married to Thomas Mountford Adie, Voe, who was born 9th June 1815 and died 5th February 1884 and had issue
    3. Margaret, married William Foster, Hasfield
    4. Neil Jameson
    5. Barbara died aged 7
    6. Robert died in infancy
    7. Isabella died in infancy
